Cubs - 2010

Water Weekend
Water Activity Weekend, Windermere

The Cubs have been experiencing many varied activities this year including climbing at Bibby's Farm, visiting the fire station as part of their Community Challenge badge and spending a very enjoyable evening experiencing a "Highland Games" night on the field. The chocolate Easter egg hunt proved to be a very popular evening with Cubs and Leaders alike. The Cubs have enjoyed achieving some activity badges over the year including their Chef's badge, Emergency Aid, Camper, Navigator and Water Activities.

This year has seen a change in Leaders with Rob taking a step back from Cubs to become Assistant Group Scout Leader with responsibility for Beavers and Cubs. We shall still see a great deal of Rob and will continue to draw on his considerable skills and knowledge.

We plan to take the Cubs away as much as possible camping. So far this year we have a weekend camp at Tawd Vale, the highlight of the weekend being the rope swing (thank you to Steven for that!) We also started "Cub's Got Talent" around the campfire with the Cubs displaying their many talents especially Phil's singing. We hope to make this a 25th tradition at any other camps we may have.

We entered 6 teams in the annual Pike View Hike event held in the West Pennine Moors in April, with team "Have We Been Here Before" being highest placed coming a respectable 10th. We look forward to next year's event and are hoping for a wining team! Other camps this year include the 25th Bolton's joint Group Camp (along with the Beaver, Scout and Explorer sections) with the theme of the weekend being water activities, held at Great Tower Scout camp site. Much fun was had by all, sailing and canoeing and yes Phil's singing again around the campfire.

We are in the process of planning an indoor camp in October and we are already planning next year's camps, so watch this space. On top of all this, we are hoping to be out on at least one Sunday per month after Church parade walking in the local area, along with the usual weekly Wednesday activities also running.
